  12.        _f_a_x_a_n_s_w_e_r  sends     a message to the _H_y_l_a_F_A_X _f_a_x_g_e_t_t_y(${MAN
  13.        NUM1_8})    process    servicing _m_o_d_e_m    telling    it to answer  the
  14.        telephone.   This  is useful, for example, when a modem is
  15.        used on a shared    phone line and the server  is  configured
  16.        to not normally answer the phone.

  18.        The  specified _m_o_d_e_m can    either be the name (typically the
  19.        last component of the terminal port the modem is     attached
  20.        to),  or     the  full name    of the associated FIFO named pipe
  21.        file, e.g. ``FIFO.ttym2''.

  24.        --qq _d_i_r     Use a spooling    area other than    _$_{_S_P_O_O_L_}.

  26.        --hh     Specify  exactly  _h_o_w    the   phone   should   be
  27.          answered.   By     default,  the    server process is
  28.          instructed to answer the phone     and  accept  any
  29.          kind of call (voice, data, fax).  Discrimination
  30.          of the    type of    call is    dependent  on  a  modem's
  31.          _a_d_a_p_t_i_v_e_-_a_n_s_w_e_r  support.   The --hh option can be
  32.          used to force the server to answer the    phone for
  33.          particular  type  of  call:  one  of  _f_a_x, _d_a_t_a,
  34.          _v_o_i_c_e,    _a_n_y, or     _e_x_t_e_r_n     (to  force  _f_a_x_g_e_t_t_y  to
  35.          invoke     an external application to to handle the
  36.          call).
